The Alpbachtal Wildschönau region has had a new attraction since autumn 2017: the year-round toboggan run, the Alpbachtaler Lauser-Sauser, was opened in Lauserland on the Wiedersbergerhorn.

The Alpbachtaler Bergbahnen invested around 1.6 million euros in the new outdoor offer.

Year-round tobogganing fun with the Alpine Coaster The toboggan run in the form of a rapid Alpine coaster starts at the mountain station at 1,845 meters.

The 1,035-meter-long route takes you down to the valley at up to 42 km / h and overcomes 134 meters of altitude in a short time. In the end, in our opinion Alpbachtaler Lauser-Sauser is one of the best places to see in Alpbach.

2. Augustinermuseum Rattenberg (That’s one of the best places to see in Alpbach)

In the venerable rooms of the former Augustinian monastery, the beginnings of which go back to the late 14th century, the Augustinermuseum Rattenberg shows a representative cross-section of the sacred art treasures of Tyrol.

The Augustinermuseum sees one of its main tasks as the rediscovery of lost or forgotten cultural and artistic assets.

Valuable treasures, which often led a Sleeping Beauty existence in church and Widum attics, have been carefully restored and made accessible to the public again.

The focus of the exhibition is on Gothic sculpture, gold and silversmith work, baroque art and religious folk art from nine centuries.

The Reintaler See is one of the warmest bathing lakes in Tyrol.

It is a popular bathing lake in Alpbach because of its excellent water quality and the wonderful location between two hills.

Our tip: take a rowing boat or kayak across the lake and enjoy the magnificent view of the surroundings.

4.Mariathal Basilica & Sculpture Park

The Mariathal Basilica is dedicated to Saint Dominic and, like the monastery of the same name, belongs to the Archdiocese of Salzburg.

According to legend, knight Berthold von Fruntsprung wanted to go hunting with his brother, when he was fatally hit by an arrow.

Desperate, the knight wandered through the woods and finally discovered a picture of the painful Mother of God at the end of the valley, which is still venerated at this point in a chapel of grace.

The Kramsach Sculpture Park is only a few minutes’ walk away from the Gasthaus Mariathal, which also functions as an exhibition venue.

Here the artist Alois Schild created an extraordinary place on the Brandenberger Ache. Surrounded by the works of art, exhibitions and concerts are regularly held in the open air.

5.Congress Center Alpbach

The Congress Centrum Alpbach is picturesquely situated on the slope, on the edge of the Tyrolean village of the same name in the Kufstein district, at the end of the Alpbach valley.

The design of the congress center with lots of glass and local wood interprets the traditional architecture of the village in a modern way.

Due to the location on the outskirts and the facility, which is partly built into the mountain, the historic center of Alpbach will not be changed.

6. Alpbacher Heimatweg

It is definitely a recommendation for families, but strollers cannot be taken with you. Sturdy shoes are compulsory. Around 10 boards along the way provide information about the history of the place, the animals and plants that live here.

The Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau with its 109 kilometers of perfectly groomed pistes and 45 lifts is one of the largest ski areas in the Tyrol.

Thanks to its diversity of long and wide slopes as well as challenging runs and freeride zones the ski area is attractive to both beginners and experienced winter sports lovers.

The largest and best playground for children right next to one’s accommodation: the snow covered mountain slopes.

A total of 10 ski schools provide safe skiing in the Tyrol – also for the youngest. 109 km pistes, thereof 90% equipped with snow cannons. In the end, in our opinion Ski Juwel is one of the best places to see in Alpbach.

In the far south of the Alpbachtal Valley stands the mighty Großer Galtenberg (2,424 metres), the highest peak in the region.

From here to the top of the mountain it is 1,300 vertical metres of uphill – though all that effort is well worth it considering the fantastic views of the Zillertal Alps and the Stubai Alps as well as the Hohe Tauern Mountains, the Kitzbühel Grass Mountains and the Karwendel Mountains.

There are no real technical difficulties, with just a little bit of scrambling at the top to contend with.

It is ideal for a bike & hike adventure, beginning at the Greither Graben near Inneralpbach.

9. Ferienregion Alpbachtal – Alpbachtal holiday region (One of the best places to see in Alpbach)

The summits of the Schatzberg, the Gratlspitz, the Wiedersberger Horn and the Reither Kogel form the breathtakingly beautiful backdrop.

On 900 km of marked hiking trails, it’s time to explore nature, relax and unwind.
