Umea Sweden situated just northwest of the Ume River delta where the river flows into the Gulf of Bothnia. The municipality as a whole has approximately 120,000 inhabitants. As the city has many students, Umeå is also one of the country’s “youngest” cities with an average age of 38 years. It is not so easy to get housing in Umeå because the demand is greater than the supply of housing. At the same time, the city has a goal of increasing the number of inhabitants, so it is still being built a lot. There are several ethnic and religious associations, but also associations in many other areas. The city is the city of residence for Västerbotten County and Norrland’s largest urban area. Below we have made a list of things to do and places to visit in Umea Sweden.

On seven floors of striking architecture, the fields of Art, Humanities, and Science combine to consider key issues of our time. Bildmuseet is a place for stimulating encounters and conversations about art, society, and existence. It is considered one of the things to see in Umea.

The Guitar Museum started as a private collection of the brothers Samuel and Michael Åhdén. In small Vännäsby outside Umeå, they slowly built their collection out of nothing. As you take part in the guided tour (see below), you will hear all about how the brothers built one of the world’s finest guitar collections. The story includes anecdotes and interesting characters, such as ‘The Greek’.

Like a small cathedral, Umeå City Church has been at the center since 1894. In the middle of the pandemic, the heart of the service continues to beat in the church by the river. Today’s church is the third in the same place. It is built in neo-Gothic style and was inaugurated in Advent 1894.
