In this castle, there is the famous witch tower in which women accused of witchcraft were locked up. To date, this castle houses the tourist office and a retirement home. The lower town is famous for the Parc Simon in which there are monuments in homage to the famous poet Michel Rodange, which is one of the best things to do in Wiltz Luxembourg.

 

1. Wiltz Castle

This castle no longer resisting, during the invasion of the Normans, the incessant attacks of the enemy, the lords of Wiltz built, towards the end of the 12th century, another fortified castle at the eastern end of a tongue of rocks which rises steeply on the banks of the Wiltz river.

In the 14th century, the fortifications were demolished and a new, larger enclosure was built.

 

2. Garden of Wiltz

It is a public garden of 2.5 ha. All the plantations, earthworks, sculptures and stone fields form a living work of art at Gruberbeerig (rue de la Montagne), it is considered as one of best things to do in Wiltz Luxembourg.

This garden is laid out and maintained by people with disabilities, the long-term unemployed, participants in temporary workshops, craftsmen and artists.

 

3. National Brewery and Tannery Museum

The museum and the micro-brewery housed in the former stables of the Château de Wiltz are a must for any self-respecting beer lover.

The museum gives an overview of the different cycles of beer production, from crushing the malt to keeping, including cooking and fermentation. Learn the art of brewing beer at a brewing seminar.

 

4.  Decanal Church

The decanal church of Saints Peter and Paul dates back in its architecture to the Middle Ages, which is one of the best things to do in Wiltz Luxembourg.

The oldest part is the tower where the tombstones of the counts of Wiltz are located.
A vintage chiseled in the bay of a vault of the old choir is presumed to indicate the year 1510 by ribbed vaults, was completed.

 

5. Strike Monument

The strike monument in Wiltz is reminiscent of the resistance against the compulsory military service of the Luxembourg people in the German Wehrmacht.

On August 30, Gauleiter Gustav Simon announced the forced recruitment of Luxembourg youth into the German Wehrmacht. The strike began on 31 August 1942 in the former Ideal Leather Factory and quickly spread throughout the city and elsewhere.

 

6. Battle of the Bulge Museum

The Museum of the Battle of the Bulge is the only museum to present a British section.
Of course, the American and German troops as well as their respective armaments are largely represented there in attractive dioramas.

But the museum has given itself the vocation of emphasizing the role played by the British during the Allied counter-offensive from January 3 to 16, 1945 and the liberation of the villages on the left bank of the Ourthe.
