1. Mariager Fjord

2. Mariager Salt Center

At the Saltcentre you can also see the world’s largest collection of salt pans in the exhibition, where a total of 2268 different salt pans are presented.
3. The veteran railway Mariager-Handest
Take a seat on the old veteran train and travel back in time to the time when grandmother or great-grandfather was young, when Denmark’s regent was called Chr. X. and the country was led by Th. Stowage. Take the vintage train back in time 100 years, cozy and fun family trip with vintage train.
4. Mariager Museum
Mariager Museum is housed in a cozy 300-year-old merchant’s farm in the middle of the old monastery town of Mariager. Mariager Museum’s collections originate from the area south of Mariager Fjord, and include a grocer’s shop from the 1920s, a unique barber’s shop, a number of living rooms, including a peasant’s room from the end of the 18th century, as well as household utensils from three centuries.
5. Mariager Church and Monastery
As soon as you get to Mariager, you will see the church tower rising above the tall trees. The impressive church is beautifully and picturesquely surrounded by a small lake, majestically tall trees and the beautiful remains of what was once an impressive monastery.
6. The veteran paddle steamer Svanen
The veteran paddle steamer Svanen sails on Mariager Fjord, which is divided into three routes. At the heart of the fjord is Hobrowith cozy streets, the pleasure craft museum, the experience center “Gasmuseet”, and five km from the jetty you can experience the Viking castle “Fyrkat. 7. The rose garden in Mariager
Here, visitors can enjoy the sight of no less than 400 different varieties of roses spread over approx. 800 plants. In Rosenhaven there are roses of all sizes, colours and scents from all over the world.
In terms of time, both age-old historical roses and the latest rose trends are presented. The bush rose, Rosa X Sancta, which adorns some of the garden’s many rose arches, is thus the oldest cultivated rose we know.
8. Mariager city center (That’s one of the most beautiful places to visit in Mariager)
One of the most beautiful places in Mariager is the old and beautiful town centre. Mariager, also called the City of Roses, is an idyllic town with cobbled streets and old half-timbered houses adorned with roses. The city has an urban environment that is rare in Denmark.
It all takes place at a relaxed pace through the old cozy streets. There are no scenery here, everything has been preserved in its original style and is still being used.
9. High pitch
Hohøj is Scandinavia’s largest burial mound with an own height of 12 m and a total height of 110 m above the water’s surface. The burial mound has a diameter of approx. 72 m. Hohøj is one of Jutland’s finest ancient monuments, not least thanks to its location on one of Jutland’s highest points and with a wide view over Mariager Fjord and the surrounding hill country.
10. Munkholm Nature Playground, Mariager
A cozy nature playground that challenges every child’s imagination. The children can play here for hours. Here are play equipment that helps to create an exciting, challenging and safe playground for the little ones. The playground is right next to the Munkholm facility, a park-like facility with tall deciduous trees and many small streams.
