1. Lake Lungern (Lungerersee)
The Lungerersee is located in the Canton of Obwalden municipality of Lungern. The lake, also known as Lungernsee, is the second largest in the canton of Obwalden after Lake Sarnen . The lake can be reached from the surrounding towns of Giswil (about 5 km from the lake), Brünig (5 km away), and Sachseln (about 6 km away). The Lungernsee is located in the catchment area of Sachseln, which is around 6 kilometers from the lake.
2. Ski and snowboard Schönbüel in Lungern between 1550-2205m
Lungern-Schönbüel is on the Brünig Pass halfway between Lucerne and Interlaken. There is a winter sports area above Lungern with fabulous views from the top of Schönbüel towards the Brienzer Rothorn and the Jungfrau range.
There is a toboggan run, some excellent winter and snowshoe walks and the opportunity to hire some whacky winter sports equipment with a Snow Fun Card. A cable car from Lungern runs up to the pistes, all of which are above 1550m, serviced by a chairlift and two surface lifts.
I’m not sure if it is possible to ski all the way down to Lungern but haven’t seen any obvious routes to do so – certainly, there are no marked trails or pistes.
The station is on the very scenic Brunig line that runs from Lucerne to Interlaken and is close to the winter sports resorts of Meiringen and Giswil-Morlialp on the same line. Of course, Schönbüel is one of the best places to see in Lungern.

4. The fishing paradise in Lake Lungern

Camping Obsee is a campsite in Lungern, Obwalden, on the lake / recreational lake. This terrace campsite has pitches that are marked out, pitches without shade, and pitches with a little shade. It is possible to rent rooms, studios, and apartments. The campsite has a sports area. For sporty holidaymakers, the campsite has excursion programs, accompanied hiking tours, and various cycle routes. In the immediate vicinity, you can swim in a lake / recreational lake. Windsurfing and white water rafting/kayaking are permitted at Camping Obsee.
6. Mährenhorn Mountain 2,923 m in Uri Alps

7. Güpfi Mountain 2043m in Uri Alps
The Güpfi is a mountain of the Urner Alps, overlooking Lungern in the canton of Obwalden. It lies on the range north of the Chingstuel, between the Lungerersee and the Klein Melchtal.
8. Catholic church in Lungern
The Catholic church Lungern majestically on the saddle at the southern exit of the village and shapes the entire Lungern village with its dominant position on the hill and with the cascade staircase aligned with the axis of the village street.
It is no coincidence that the parish church, built in the neo-Gothic style, stands in its exposed position above the stair cemetery.
It replaces the church, which was covered with rubble and stones up to the windows due to a violent thunderstorm through the Eibach in 1887, of which today only the old church tower at the northern entrance to the village is preserved as a landmark.
The new church was consecrated in 1893 in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The striking sandstone columns, the colored church windows by the painter Albert Schweri and the crucifixion group created by the Lungern sculptor Beat Gasser and those works on the two side altars with the state saint, Brother Klaus, and the Holy Family, are remarkable. 9. Playground Turren Dörfli
The large playground “Turren Dörfli” right next to the restaurant makes children’s eyes shine. The view of the mountains all around is still brisk down it goes fast with the curved slide.
For smaller visitors, there is also a more comfortable, shorter slide. But the fun is far from over. Take a deep breath of fresh mountain air and continue with new strength.
A short walk away there is a great fire pit with everything you need for a barbecue.
10. Bathing and Swimming in Lake Lungernsee
The emerald-green Lungernsee offers action, fun, and lots of family fun. The fine sandy beach provides a real beach feeling. While some family members enjoy relaxing in the sun on the large lawn, others are drawn to the water attractions.
Your children will of course be particularly enthusiastic about the 56-meter-long water slide and the diving tower with slide. The mountain lake, formed by a dam, is popular with pedalo riders, and fishermen, and, thanks to reliable winds, with yachtsmen (there is a sailing school) and windsurfers.
