1. Danube Park Deggendorf

With the State Garden Show 2014, a recreation and leisure area was created directly on the river, which is only a few minutes walk from the city center. 2. Museum Quintana Kunzing Deggendorf

The Museum Quintana – Archeology in Künzing presents finds and findings from the Middle Imperial auxiliary military fort of Künzing / Quintanis and the surrounding civilian settlement. The fort was built around 90 AD and offered space for a cavalry cohort with around 600 soldiers on an area of ​​around 2 hectares. The fort was destroyed around 250/60 AD by Germans invading across the border.

On the current site of the parish church, there used to be a Romanesque complex, which fell victim to a fire in 1240. In the years 1656/57 the magnificent church was rebuilt as a baroque basilica. The canopy high altar by the Eichstätt sculptor Matthias Seybold is particularly noteworthy. The sacred masterpiece made of Salzburg marble was originally created in 1749 for the cathedral in Eichstätt but was bought in 1891 by the people of Deggendorf for the parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.

 

6. Asamba silica St. Margaretha

The venerable monastery, founded between 1004 and 1007, almost completely burned down in 1701. The accident resulted in the baroque new building of the monastery and church as a joint work of leading artists of the time. Above all Johann Michael Fischer and the Asam brothers.
